Story
When maple syrup farmer Ruth Landry finds her livelihood under attack from greedy competitors who were once her friends, she devises a plan to get revenge and shake up the industry. Storage facilities in Quebec; Five were sentenced to prison.. Ruth Landry (Margo Martindale) in rural Quebec struggles to maintain her maple tree farm while her husband lies in a coma.
Fargo is strong here
is looking to steal her property for profit. Remy Bouchard (Guillaume Cyr) is the disillusioned lone security guard at the union warehouse. Mike Byrne (Chris Diamantopoulos) is a low-level bag man with a Boston mob family.
Tributes have been paid
Like that franchise, this one could have been a movie or a TV show. It has snow, quirky criminals and small townspeople, and even a true/untrue story. The cast is led by the greatness of Margo Martindale and the somewhat inconsistent Chris Diamantopoulos.
It takes some getting used to
Two things initially worried me and deterred me somewhat. The story is inherently stupid and I’m not sure it’s worth the Fargo treatment. The other issue is the language barrier.
